Stem Cell Injections

Stem Cell and Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) treatments use your body’s own healing mechanisms to regenerate tissues in injured areas to restore or establish normal function. We precisely target the injured and affected area of the body to boost natural healing and regeneration, speeding recovery.

What are Stem Cell Injections?

Stem Cells are in all of us and they are responsible for healing injured bone, ligaments, tendons and tissues. As we get older or injured, we sometimes cannot get enough of these cells into the area in need.

Our stem cell therapy helps solve that problem by precisely delivering a high concentration of stem cells into the injured area and aiding your body’s ability to heal naturally.

We are able to harvest these cells from your own tissues or from ethically gathered umbilical tissue and direct them with exact precision to an injured area.  This therapy is not just to mask the pain but to heal the area and rejuvenate the tissue.

We are only one of the few fellowship trained physicians in Utah using x-ray machine and ultrasound to do Stem Cells.  Many patients can avoid surgical procedures after treatment from Stem Cells and PRP.

Stem Cell Therapy is used for a Variety of Conditions:

  • Back Pain

  • Neck Pain

  • Ligament and Tendon Pain

  • Osteoporosis

  • Rotator Cuff Injuries

  • Sports Injuries

  • Tennis and Golfer's Elbow

  • Joint Pain

What are Blood Platelet Rich Plasma Injections?

PRP Therapy utilizes platelets taken from the patient’s own blood to rebuild a damaged tendon or cartilage.

PRP Therapy can play a key role in the healing of soft tissue and eliminate pain in a non-invasive way.

PRP Therapy actually heals your body, rather than masking your pain and covering it up.

We draw your own blood and concentrate the platelets to 4 to 5 times beyond normal and inject them into injured areas to promote healing.

PRP Therapy is used for a Variety of Conditions:

  • Arthritis of the Knee, Hip, or Shoulder

  • Rotator Cuff Tears

  • Tennis Elbow

  • Hip Bursitis

  • Ligament and Tendon Pain

  • Back and Neck Pain

Is Stem Cell Therapy Right for Me?

If you have a painful injury that is not healing and would like to avoid major surgery or if you are currently only masking pain through injection therapy or medication, Stem Cell Therapy may be right for you.

How long does it take to do?
The actual injection takes only a few minutes. Please allow about an hour and a half for the procedure; this will include talking to your doctor before the procedure, signing the informed consent, positioning in the room, and observation by the recovery room nurse afterwards.

Will it hurt?
All of our procedures begin by injecting a small amount of local anesthetic through a very small needle. It feels like a little pinch and then a slight burning as the local anesthetic starts numbing the skin. After the skin is numb, the procedure needle feels like a bit of pressure at the injection site. If you experience any pain during the procedure, your doctor will inject more local anesthetic as needed.

Will I be “put out” for this procedure?
No, we offer mild IV sedation to calm you and local anesthesia to numb the skin.

What should I do after the procedure?
We advise the patients to take it easy for a day or so after the procedure. Perform the activities as tolerated by you. Your recovery room nurse will give you more instructions upon discharge.

Can I go back to work the same day or the next day?
Your doctor or recovery room nurse will discuss this with you.

Who should not have this injection?
The following patients should not have this injection: if you are allergic to any of the medications to be injected or if you have an active infection going on. If you are on blood thinners, please talk with your doctor.
